HOUSEKEEPING (27 Apr 26)

Please remember to fit prop tip covers on ac when putting them away in hangar, leave parking brakes off and chock nosewheels of all ac types.

GA FLIGHT DATA RECORDING (25 Apr 26)

GA’s HOBBS metre is suspect and cannot be relied on to provide accurate data.

Until it is fixed, flight costs will be calculated by Plogbook in the same way as RY – ie TACHO time plus 0.2.  Please continue to record HOBBS time on the Flight Payment sheet so we can monitor GA’s HOBBS metre performance, but do not enter  the HOBBS reading into Logbook;  instead add the TACHO elapsed time plus 0.2 to the HOBBS start reading for your flight – just as you do now for RY.

AC PARKING APRON (17 Apr 26)

The area in front of the Hangar 3 “Chipmunk Doors”  (ie NE end) has been barricaded off for safety pending repairs to the doors.

Please exercise extreme caution when taxying or towing ac on the apron

HELO OPERATIONS

RAF Halton will be facilitating aerodrome access for Helicopter Services Ltd (HSL) aircraft for landaway training. The activity constitutes a change in normal airfield outputs, and the detail (here) must be read and understood by all pilots operating at Halton ahead of their next flight.

DEFECT REPORTING

With Immediate Effect all defects will be reported and recorded on Plogbook and NOT in the Defects Log in the ac Documents Folder.  The procedure is explained in Section 5 of the Documents Folder – Defect Reporting Procedure. The criteria for deferring (defects (or not) are unchanged;  it is simply where the defect is recorded that is new.

———————————

DRONE REPORTING (25 Mar 26)

Please be vigilant for drones infringing UAS Flight Restriction Zone (FRZ) around the airfield (approx 5km radius).  Report any suspected sightings to the Airfield Manager immediately by radio or phone (07771 522083)

New 1:500,000 Charts – NOW AVAILABLE (23 Mar 26)

The NEW edition of the 1/2 million Southern UK Chart was released 23 March.  They are available from the Ops Mgr or CFI for £21 each (they’re £23.99 direct from Pooleys!).  Please complete the form by the chart roll (just inside Ops Mgr office door!) when collecting chart.  Payment can be made by BACS (use ref: 2026 CHART) or from account (if you have one).

———————————

Grass Cutting (20 Mar 26)

Grass cutting will recommence on Monday 23Mar2026 and be cut every Monday morning. The Station Flypro has been amended to that effect.

The white chalk markings will also be de-weeded and moss removal carried out so we should see an improvement in that department. This situation will of course be monitored as I am fully aware of the state of the grass in some area’s of the airfield.

The HAC Schedule will be annotated to show airfield unavailable until 1230 each Monday.

.———————————

IER Duties (1 Mar 26)

With effect from 1 Apr 26 Chiltern Gliding Club will assume ALL IER 2 duties and there will no longer be a requirement for HAC to provide IER2 manning.

On the (rare) occasions when CGC cannot fill the duty, the AFM will contact the Ops Mgr or HMC to provide an ad hoc volunteer.

The new system will be trialled for 3 months
