Trenchard Museum Visit 28th January 2020
3 HAC members (Mike Russell, Stephen Early and Ken Owen) visited the Trenchard Museum and in particular The James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre (JMFHC) on 28th January. The main aim of the visit was to get checked out on the Centre’s Chipmunk Simulator in order to be able to further assist the Cool Aeronautics Science, Technology, Engineering & Maths (STEM) organiser (Bill McGrath) with visits in the future. HAC has a healthy pool of volunteers to help with these visits (but more are always welcome!) whilst The Trenchard Museum is short of personnel for their part in the programme.
In addition to a fascinating tour of the The James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre (JMFHC) viewing the many excellent exhibits and “flying” one of the Link Flight Simulators, the visit team were checked out on the Chipmunk Simulator which was purpose built for the Museum and has excellent graphics of the Halton area.
I suspect that a good number of HAC members have never visited the museum or The James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre (JMFHC). The museum is open to the public every Tuesday and visits to The James McCudden Flight Heritage Centre (JMFHC) can be easily arranged for any day by contacting the Membership Secretary (mike.russell@haltonaeroclub.co.uk) who is happy to coordinate a visit (or visits) for HAC members with Bill McGrath. Your Social and vehicle Passes will get you onto the site and to the Museum. If you want to arrange to take your family or visitors to the Museum please contact Bill direct (wjmccg3@btinternet.com).
