Dear Member,
I hope that this message finds you and your family in good health.
The most recent change to the UK Government Coronavirus Restrictions has set the path to a long return to normality. However, we are not yet in a position to resume flying operations. We believe that we will be able to begin ground events prior to flying and this will help us to prepare through a much needed spruce-up of our infrastructure and aircraft. As before, please be assured that your Committee is closely monitoring the situation and liaising with Station and the CAA/LAA – this will mean an efficient and SAFE return to flying for the HAC.
CURRENT SUMMARY
Please follow this Link for the latest UK Government (Dept for Transport) statement on GA http://www.lightaircraftassociation.co.uk/2020/News/DfT%20Statement.pdf
SAFE RETURN TO FLYING
Part of your return to flying commitment will be to complete the GASCO package within 2-weeks of your first flight. The training package through this link https://www.gasco.org.uk/ is excellent – please take a look now. Part of your dual check will include questions on topics raised in the package.
POST COVID-19 SAFETY
The CAA has issued CAP 1919 which details safety advice for the GA community returning to flying post COVID-19. Please read through this link https://publicapps.caa.co.uk/docs/33/CAP%201919%20GA%20return%20to%20service%20safety%20checklist.pdf Note that it is ‘how’ to stay safe, the ‘when?’ is still to be determined.
FLIGHT SAFETY UPDATES
Flt Lt Carlos Jenkins is currently preparing a Flight Safety update which will be sent out over the next few weeks. Please ensure that you read this. I would like to congratulate Carlos and in particular, Paul B-H for their Flight Safety Award. A summary will be included in the Update – how much do you listen to other transmissions on the RT? Do you question what you hear? Would you have done the same as Paul?
Stay Safe.
Regards,
Mark
