Chairman’s New Year Message

On behalf of the Staff and Committee, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year! 2025 is the Centenary Year of the RAF Halton Aero Club and that amazing achievement will be at the forefront of everything we do in the coming year.

Today (3 Jan 25) , we started the year by reviewing the HAC Flying Order Book (FOB) and have made a number of changes. To allow professional printing, these changes will come into force on 15 Jan 25 and everyone will be placed in the RED. The Ops Manager will email you with a summary of changes and let you know when the new version is on the HAC website – as always, changes will be shown in Bold Purple. There are some changes to currency and self-authorisation status that recognise and reward growing experience.

As we emerge from the Christmas period, January and February will see:

> Redecoration of the Clubhouse – volunteers will be co-ordinated by email soon.

> The HAC Centenary 100 Airfield Challenge starts. Big prizes for top scoring members!

> The inaugural planning meeting for the 2025 Exped to Poland (Sat 8 Feb 25).

> Visit to the Shuttleworth Engineering Workshop (Sat 22 Feb 25).

More details to follow soon.

Finally, some sad news. We have been informed that our former-Ops Manager and Club Secretary, Jon Kumela, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour. The prognosis is not good. JK has asked that this news be circulated to his friends and colleagues at the HAC. Our thoughts are with him and Viv at this difficult time.

Regards,

Mark
