Dear Member,
As we approach the start of BST and a much anticipated flying season, please take time to read the following.
Firstly, we all send our congratulations to our Ops Manager, Adnan, who has been successful in his application for a flying role within BAe Systems! This is very much deserved and we wish him all the very best in this new chapter. He is due to start on 22 Apr 24 and we will be looking at how we will run the Ops function in the coming weeks. Meantime, we will require volunteers to assist during the first month, so if you can spare a few hours per week, please contact Adnan. He will be continuing as a part-time instructor.
NEW AIRCRAFT & FLEET UPDATE
After long-running negotiation, we have secured the permanent lease of a new PA-28-161. This gives us a fleet of 2 x C-152 and 2 x PA-28 going forward. G-BPRY will appear on the EBS once we are able to collect her. Get booking – the Spring is here.
STATION COMMANDER’S INSPECTION
Last week’s Stn Cdr’s Inspection was a huge success. My thanks goes to everyone that participated in its preparation – well done!
CAA DECLARED TRAINING ORGANISATION (DTO) AUDIT
The CAA DTO audit was excellent. We have now closed-off all elements with the CAA. The Audit found the following:
> Finding – Additional signature required on training folders before groundschool exams attempted – Complete.
> Observation – The HAC might benefit from a list of local hazards – Rejected. Already in FOB Rule 4.4.
> Observation – Excellent Safety Mgt System, but might benefit from Chairman’s statement – Complete.
> Observation – ‘Minimum Eqpt List’ is better described as ‘Acceptable Deferred Defects’ – Complete.
Overall, the CAA were delighted with the Audit and stated that the HAC is seen as an exemplar DTO.
Finally, we are 2 week’s away from the next Tue Social – Visit to RAF Halton Trenchard Museum. I will write again in a few day with the requirements for this and a few other reminders.
