Our first Social evening of 2020 is on 3rd March and will feature a briefing by Major Greg “DATT” Guy USAF on the A10-C Thunderbolt II – affectionately known as the “HAWG”.
Major Greg “DATT” Guy is a 2008 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy. After graduation, he attended Undergraduate Pilot Training at Laughlin Air Force Base, Texas where he flew the T-6 Texan II and T-38 Talon. After completion of pilot training, DATT stayed at Laughlin Air Force Base as a First Assignment Instructor Pilot (FAIP). He instructed brand new students with little to no flying experience on the T-6 for 3 years, gaining over 850 hours. Following this assignment, DATT transitioned to the A-10C Thunderbolt II, more affectionately known as the Hawg. His first A-10 assignment was with the 75th Fighter Squadron at Moody AFB, GA, where he deployed to OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE gaining over 400 combat hours over Iraq and Syria in the fight against ISIS. During this assignment, DATT earned the qualifications of A-10 IP, FAC(A) and Sandy 2. Following the 75th Fighter Squadron, DATT went to Davis Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona where he instructed at the A-10 Fighter Training Unit (the US equivalent of the OCU). He left this assignment in November 2018 with 1200 hours in the A-10C and was posted to RAF High Wycombe. He works as a US Exchange Officer with the RAF and is the Senior Offensive Duty Officer on the UK JFAC.
