FLYING ORDER BOOK / TERMS OF REFERENCE UPDATES
Due to Covid and other illness among key players over the past few weeks, the HAC Flying Order Book (FOB) and Terms of Reference (TOR) updates have been unavoidably delayed. All members will be placed in the RED when the FOB is refreshed – all changes will be displayed in BOLD PURPLE – we will email you when the changes go live. Relevant staff and members will be sent updated TOR individually.
G-EDGA & G-BNKI
These aircraft will be available for pick-up from our new engineers at Enstone on Fri 7 Jan 22. Both aircraft will have had a fresh Annual and will be ready for the new season. Clearly, the return to Halton will be subject to weather and runway conditions! Today, the airfield is slightly waterlogged with rain forecast for tomorrow and Saturday (8th). Outside of this, the 10-day forecast is relatively dry. Continue to book your flying and speak to your instructor and Adi if in doubt.
SKY-ECHO PRESENTATION EVENING
ADSB-based Electronic Conspicuity will be mandated at RAF by 1 Apr 22. We therefore all need to be fully conversant with the favoured system – Sky Echo 2. The chosen date in early-Feb 22 for Mike Tetlow’s presentation evening is unlikely to work due to Omicron; however, we will continue to assess the situation and run the event as soon as it is safe to do so. Our plans to run a Skydemon evening (with a member of the Skydemon Company presenting) will be similarly scheduled.
FLIGHT SAFETY
My thanks goes to Flt Lt Carlos Jenkins, the HAC FSO, for his work in Defence Aviation Safety Occurence Report (DASOR) closures and the G-BSCZ accident investigation. Relevant content will be shared by the Flight Safety Team when and where appropriate.
G-FOTN
My thanks goes to Steve T and Adi for their assistance in completing the fuel flow, low-fuel warning and unusable capacity checks on G-FOTN today. Despite the -5c wind-chill factor, it passed all the tests successfully and brings the aircraft one-step closer to first flight.
STAYING SAFE
Please continue to follow UK Gov Covid guidelines. In addition:
- If flying dual (outside of family bubble), you must show evidence of a negative Lateral Flow Test.
- Face coverings are mandatory when flying dual (outside of family bubble).
- If you fall ill within 5-days of being at the HAC, inform us immediately.
- If you are unwell (irrespective of LFT result), do not travel to RAF Halton.
