Snow & Ice Plan 2024/25

Snow & Ice Plan 2024/25

The Station has published the Snow & Ice Plan (SIP) for this winter which can be read in full in the Ops Room. HAC pilots are note Para 12 c which states:

Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI). To mitigate salt contaminating the aircraft and vehicle crossing point by the BFI, personnel requiring access to the Airfield Tower and the sewage works are to conduct a FOD check to remove excess grit from tyres. Aircraft captains are requested to shut down before this crossing point and manually walk the aircraft to the BFI to prevent grit being scattered across the apron by propeller wash.

We Meet Again

We Meet Again

August 2024 :

Buster our Deputy Chairman and ex CFI/Flt Examiner was awaiting his flight back to Luton from Murcia Spain. To his delight the pilot for his Ryanair flight home. on the Boeing 737 was newly appointed Captain and member of Halton aero Club Mr Paul Summerscale. Buster was delighted, due to Paul being a member of HAC and Buster being his training Instructor, Examiner and friend. Paul was also pleased to have his friend and Instructor onboard and enjoyed announcing it to all 160 passengers over the PA system!  I thank Paul for the embarrassment, but Paul redeemed himself with a complimentary Gin and Tonic for Buster and his wife Lisa.

We as a flying club have had dozens of ex Students go on to flying commercially, due to the very high standard of training and staff at Halton Aero club.

Buggy Parking

Buggy Parking

It has become common practice to park the buggies in the hangar close to parked aircraft with the risk of an inadvertent collision if, for example,  the wrong gear is selected!  WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT Buggies are to be parked alongside the Fire Tender facing the hangar doors at end of flying and parked outside parallel to the hangar doors in the same way that the Fire Tender is parked outside during flying operations. Should it rain then move them inside the hangar entrance until it stops!

UPDATE  For clarification, BOTH buggies should be moved outside before any ac are moved from the hangar and not moved back inside the hangar until all HAC ac are bedded down for the night.
