Chairman’s Update 28-02-24

Dear Member,

Disappointingly, there were no volunteers for the (three times advertised) much needed Winter Infrastructure work – so no improvements will be made to YOUR club infra this year. All clubs run on self-help principles – those who fail to recognise this have no place on MOD estate. Should our requests for critical self-help projects continue to be unsupported, this will reflect poorly upon our encroachment privileges at RAF Halton and will force me into making a difficult decision about our future.

The HAC (and Hangar 3) will be inspected by the RAF Halton Station Commander on Wed 6 March. This is an important event that confirms our ability to continue operating from RAF Halton. Your staff and committee have ensured all of the relevant supporting documentation/activity is completed – it is now YOUR chance to contribute by coming to the Airfield between now and Tue 5 March and completing the following:

> General tidy up throughout the Clubhouse.

> Deep clean of all fridges and cooker.

> Sweep/hoover of Hangar.

> Empty all bins (Clubhouse and Hangar).

> Private aircraft owners are responsible for the areas around their aircraft and their associated equipment.

Any items that do not belong in the Clubhouse or Hangar will be disposed off on Tue 5 Mar without further consultation.

The Spring Clean will take place on Sun 14 April. Please ensure this is in your diary now. Full attendance is expected.

Regards,

Mark

Chairman’s Update 01-02-24

Dear Member,

The first Tuesday Social of 2024 is less than a week away.

TUES 6 FEB – WHAT’S THE EXPED ALL ABOUT?
Despite the short days, it is time to start thinking about an exciting way to expand your flying horizons. A look at the 15 years of HAC UK and Overseas Expeditions. What’s the aim? What’s the planning? How can YOU expand your flying in a safe, challenging but controlled environment? Even if the 2024 Exped is not for you, an insight into high-end flight planning during the first 2024 meet with fellow aviators definitely is! Food and drink available. 1900hrs pre-drinks

For details of the Tuesday Social plan and the overall HAC events for 2024, please find attached the HAC Calendar. Get the dates into your diary now!

Chairman’s Update 18-03-24

Chairman’s Update 29-01-24

Dear Member,

Please take time to read this important HAC information.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL – INCREASE IN FEES
2023/24 has a very difficult year for us. The loss of CZ, the huge expense of rectification of TM and the late arrival/early departure of the 2nd PA-28 means we have made an operating loss of around £30K – this follows 2022 where we had to replace 3 engines (2 of which were significantly under mid-life). In addition, the waterlogging of Nov/Dec/Jan has left us with a quarter of the year with no income but continued outgoings.

At last week’s committee meeting we decided to increase the membership renewal fees to fully cover our annual fixed costs – we have not raised the membership fees significantly for the past decade. To offset this, we have reduced the aircraft rental rates by ~£10/hr. The calculation is that for Full Members that fly ~7 hours/year and Associate Members that fly ~15 hours/year the Membership Fee increase will be cost-neutral.

If you want your flying club to remain in existence, then I would ask that you respond to the Membership Secretary’s email ASAP – he will be writing to you on 4 Feb 24.

YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU.
