A quick update from the HAC. Firstly, I would like to say a huge thanks to the 35 members and staff that made the Spring Clean a success. A brilliant day – thank you. We are now ready for the 2024 flying season!

DID NOT ATTEND THE SPRING CLEAN?

No problem. G-BVTM has been polished, but we ran out of time to apply the ceramic coat. Please speak to any staff member and ask for cleaning cloths and the ceramic coat bottle. This will ensure the hard work of those who hand polished her will not go to waste.

FAREWELL TO ADNAN

Yesterday was Adnan’s final day as Ops Manager. We are running some adverts to recruit a replacement. In the meantime, we have a number of volunteers that will keep things ticking over but on a much reduced presence. Please remain patient until we have filled the post. We wish Adnan the very best of luck in his new flying job!

AIRCRAFT FLEET

All aircraft are serviceable. As we continue to bed-down G-BPRY, we are collating a list of required improvements that will be put forward for completion (including a replacement P1 windscreen) when it goes for annual service next week. If you spot or know of anything that needs doing, speak to Steve or Deacon ASAP.

IMPROVEMENTS TO HAC WEBSITE

I would like to say a big thanks to Mark Wingrove for his work improving the HAC Website. It is still ‘work in progress’ and being trialled by Committee and Staff. Once complete, we will issue guidance for use of its new functionality.

HAC AGM – TUE 7 MAY 2024 – RAFA CLUBHOUSE

This important and mandated event is just over 2-weeks away. Agenda will follow soon. Meantime, ensure the date and time is in your calendar. Be there!

By moving your clocks to BST tomorrow night, you will be guaranteed one-hour’s less rain. Sadly, the 10-day forecast will more than make up for that reduction. Despite the weather, now is the time to get ourselves in good shape for the forthcoming season.

IER DUTY ** IMPORTANT ACTION REQUIRED **
There are a number of HAC members that have not responded to the recent IER Duty email (dated 7 Mar 24). TO BE CLEAR – completion of IER Duty is a term of membership. I have asked our IER Duty co-ordinator to provide a list of non-responders. If you have not responded, you will receive one further email, then your membership will be terminated. For immediate attention, please email simon.greaves@haltonaeroclub.co.uk 

PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
With Adnan’s forthcoming departure to BAe Systems, we will shortly be externally advertising. Before we do this, we would like to offer this 20 hours/week opportunity to HAC members. Should you like more information, please reply to this email no later than Mon 8 Apr 24.

NEW PA-28 – G-BPRY
‘Burpy’ arrived during a small weather window. Although very similar to GA, there are a few minor differences that will be briefed by an Instructor before you fly solo. It needs a little TLC to bring her appearance up to our standard – Adam Norton has kindly volunteered to machine polish her during the Spring Clean. We now have a balanced fleet for the foreseeable future.

SPRING CLEAN – SUN 14 APR
This important event is just 2-weeks away. A list of jobs and items to bring will be published soon. Constant tea, coffee, biscuits will be served, followed by a 1940s recipe RAF ‘Night Flying Supper’. Ringfence 0945-1300hrs now. We need maximum attendance to make the day successful.  There will be no flying on Sun 14 Apr until the Spring Clean is complete.

TUE SOCIAL – 2 APR 24
The list for the Trenchard Museum is closed. Please do not turn up if you have not already booked.

AIRFIELD CARE & MAINTENANCE
The electrical ring-main has been repaired. The generator has been turned off. The Airfield grass is now being cut (carefully). The ground maintenance team have strimmed the site. This all demonstrates an investment in our Airfield – now to demonstrate our continued place and value to RAF Halton.
