Chairman’s Update 28-04-23

Dear Member,

Please take time to read this important update from the HAC.

HAC AGM – TUE 9 MAY – 1900hrs PRE-DRINKS
The HAC Annual General Meeting will take place in the RAFA Clubhouse. The Agenda will be circulated next week and Club accounts displayed in the HAC Clubhouse. Members’ Agenda Items should be forwarded to mark.manwaring@haltonaeroclub.co.uk no later than 1700hrs Fri 5 May. The RAFA Bar will be open and food will be provided. There is no other social event scheduled for May 23.

OUTSTANDING SPRING CLEAN TASKS
The Spring Clean was an excellent success. However, there was no electricity and G-EDGA and G-BNKI were stuck at Turweston. We have the Stn Cdr’s Inspection on Thu 11 May and need to ensure we are ready for this important event. Please speak to Adnan who will be coordinating tasks for the Inspection, but jobs will certainly include:
> Hoover the Hangar
> Hoover the Clubhouse
> Clean fridges
> Sweep area outside main entrance door
> Polish GA and KI (lower priority).

UK TOUR 7-9 SEP 23
The UK Tour will take place in early September. It has been designed to provide a challenging and supervised exercise in:
> Planning
> Negotiating airspace
> Operating as a team
> Landing at differing airfields
> Consideration of terrain.
Participants will have to:
> Hold a Licence
> Commit to the estimated expenditure (approx 12 hours flying shared between 2 members, plus hotel accommodation, landing fees, food, etc)
> Commit to the dates (and potential for weather slippage)
> Fully participate in the planning, including taking on duties and roles.
If you would like to learn more, please email me at mark.manwaring@haltonaeroclub.co.uk no later than Fri 19 May. The date of the first meeting will likely be early-Jun 23 (not as shown on the Calendar).

CORONATION FLYPAST – SAT 6 MAY 23
Elements of the King’s Coronation Flypast will disperse over RAF Halton Airfield on Sat 6 May 23 – time TBC. This will result in a short flying embargo. Please check NOTAMs carefully around this period. More info to follow. Separately, no alcohol may be purchased or consumed at RAF Halton from now until Mon 8 May 23.

Chairman’s Update 02-04-23

Dear Member,

A quick update from the HAC.

Firstly, Happy Birthday to Buster!

My thanks goes to the 35 hard-working attendees at today’s Spring Clean. Despite the temperature and no electricity, the team did a brilliant job – well done! If you were unable to attend, please liaise with Adnan to determine which jobs still need doing. G-EDGA and G-BNKI will be back at Halton when the weather picks up this week and will need polishing.

HAC SOCIAL – TUE 4 APR – UNMANNED AIR SYSTEMS
HAC member, Elliot Emery, is a professional drone pilot and will be presenting a fascinating brief on this proliferating sector of aviation. 1900hrs pre-drinks for a 1930hrs start.

The longer days are here, better weather is forecast and GA and KI will be back and available soon. DK should be with us at the end of this month. Get booking!

Regards,

Mark

Chairman’s Update 20-03-24

Dear Member,

There are 2 important events coming up in the next 2 weeks, please note the following:

SKYDEMON MASTERCLASS – SAT 25 MAR – 1400hrs
Rob Hart, the Marketing Director from SkyDemon is travelling from Devon to Halton Airfield this weekend. This is a one-off opportunity to understand the awesome functionality of this planning/navigation system, which has become the GA Standard. Rob has requested that we think about other functions that we would like to see incorporated in future upgrades. So, get thinking and we’ll see you on Saturday afternoon.

SPRING CLEAN – SUN 2 APR – 1000hrs
This important event will get us ready for the flying season. Further detail on the required tasks will be circulated next week and will range from aircraft husbandry to building a new picnic bench! Lunch will be provided. Set these few hours aside to ensure your club is in good shape.

See You on Sat 25th,

Chairman’s Update 06-03-23

Dear Member,

Three important updates from the HAC:

HAC SOCIAL – TUE 7 MAR – 1900hrs PRE-DRINKS
After an excellent start to the Social Calendar one month ago, we look forward to tomorrow’s event – Where is MH 370? – by Dusty Miller. We will take orders for fish and chips when you arrive, so be hungry and bring cash!

IER2 DUTY GUIDE
We have produced an easy to read document detailing the duties associated with the IER2 Duty – it is in its own book (with signing on/off sheet) and kept in the Ops Room. This is coherent with the IER2 Terms of Reference in the Aerodrome Operating Manual. A PDF copy is attached for your familiarity.

CLUB ENABLER POSITION
A vacancy has arisen for HAC Safeguarding Officer/Adviser to the Committee. If you have a DBS qualification and/or experience in this field, please reply to this email.
