All members are now in the RED for the re-issue of the Defence Aerodrome Manual (DAM) – Version 8. Changes from the recent re-issue of the Aerodrome Order Book have been incorporated in the DAM and the layout changed. Please ensure you read (here Flying info | RAF Halton | Royal Air Force (mod.uk) or paper copy at the HAC), sign and place yourself in the GREEN before you next fly.

AIRCRAFT FLEET

Good news:

G-EDGA – is back from its 100 hour service.

G-HACS – is expected back from engineering within the hour.

G-BSCZ – is expected early next week.

Watch the EBS, which will be enabled for bookings on each aircraft when available. The long-range weather forecast is looking good!

Dear Member,

I would like to say a big thanks to those that made today’s Spring Clean a fantastic success. We managed to turn an unfortunate lack of aircraft to our advantage and now have our infrastructure in the best condition possible.  A brilliant turnout of around 45 people gave us the ability to remove 3 years’ worth of Covid-enforced grime, to upgrade lighting, weather-proof wooden structures and provide TLC to every part of the HAC.  Well done!

My thanks also to those unable to attend who donated cleaning equipment and refreshments.  And to those who have pledged to blitz the other aircraft on the fleet when they return from engineering.  

Keep up the fantastic work.  Your contribution is what makes the HAC the best club in RAFSA.

A quick update from the HAC:

SPRING CLEAN – SUNDAY 8th MAY

See you on Sunday morning (ready to start work at 1000hrs) for the Spring Clean.  To Exped participants, a reminder that the Exped Meeting that will take place after the Spring Clean.

ROYAL INTERNATIONAL AIR TATTOO – JULY 2022

We have managed to secure 2 x static display aircraft slots at the Royal International Air Tattoo.  G-HACS and a C-152 will deploy to RAF Fairford on Thu 14 Jul 22 and return to RAF Halton on Mon 18 Jul 22.  HAC members will be required to fly the aircraft in, stand by the aircraft and speak to members of the public (Fri 15, Sat 16 and Sun 17 Jul) and fly the aircraft back.  HAC participants will share these days and duties.  Deacon has volunteered to co-ordinate our participation and will start work on this soon.

HAC SOCIAL PROGRAMME

The Social Sec Team is finalising the HAC Social Programme with events that will be published between Thu 4 Jun 2022 and Spring 2023!  This will be circulated very soon and will (mainly) follow the ‘first Tuesday of the month’ schedule.  Meantime, please get the following into your diaries:

> Bank Holiday Thu 2 Jun 22 – 1245hrs – View the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Flypast Formation overflight and dispersal at RAF Halton Airfield.  To be confirmed upon receipt of the Flypast Operation Order.

> Tue 5 Jul 22 – 1930hrs – Quiz, Food & Beer Night.  Prizes to be announced soon!

RAF HALTON DEFENCE AERODROME MANUAL (DAM)

Following the re-issue of the Halton Aerodrome Order Book, the DAM has also been re-written.  It will be circulated by Ops early next week and will place everyone in the RED.  Once received, we will make it available electronically.  Please ensure that you have read and understood it before you next fly at RAF Halton.

A quick update on the AGM and Spring Clean.

AGM

Due to primary duties commitments, the AGM has been rescheduled to TUESDAY 7th June – 1930hrs.  Members’ Agenda Items should be sent to mark.manwaring@haltonaeroclub.co.uk no later than Sun 5th June.  Apologies for this change.

SPRING CLEAN – SUNDAY 8th MAY – 1000hrs

Less than a week to go to this important pre-season event.  Please have a think about the jobs that best suit you from the following:

> Aircraft clean and polish.  Microfibre cloths and polish provided.  Bring your own elbow grease.

> Oil store and benches repaint.  Ronseal Timbercare provided.  Please bring paint brushes.

> Clubhouse blitz.  Microfibre cloths provided.  Please bring a hoover, Mr Sheen, window cleaner, etc.

> Kitchen & Fridges blitz.  Please bring suitable cleaning products.

Buckets of tea and coffee plus biscuits throughout the morning!  This small (2.5 hour) commitment ensures we can maintain our low prices.  Unable to attend?  CZ and KI will require some TLC when they return, please make this your contribution.  Flying on Sun 8th May will recommence after all work is complete.
