Flight Logging Procedures

Flight Logging Procedures

With effect from 0800 Wed 24 Jun 26 the following changes will apply to the way we record flight details for HAC ac.

RECORD TACHO TIME ONLY

  1. There is no longer a requirement to record HOBBS time. Record  TACHO reading only in both Plogbook and the Auth Sheets
  2.  Billable time will be calculated by Plogbook by adding 0.2 hours to the recorded TACHO time for each flight or leg.
  3. You will no longer see a HOBBS reading when you book an ac out, but you will still see a HOBBS box on the Plogbook “Close Log Entry” form but you should leave it blank.

WITHDRAWAL OF PAPER FLIGHT PAYMENT SHEETS

  1. The paper Flight Payment Sheets currently found in Section 8 of the Ac Docs Folder will no longer be required to be completed.
  2. You are still required to enter the TACHO start and end readings in the Auth sheet which gives us a back up of the Plogbook data in the event of an error in data entry (or, less likely, a system failure!).
  3. In lieu of your signature for pre flight checks currently on the paper sheet, the SplashScreen you OK when you confirm ac book out acts as your confirmation that you have read & understood the HAC FOB and all associated Orders and Instructions and that have completed the relevant ac checks.
Please contact me if you have any questions or find any issues with the new system which will significantly reduce the admin load in the Ops Office!

Housekeeping

Please remember to:

Fit prop tip covers on ac when putting them away in hangar.

In hangar leave parking brakes off and chock nosewheels – both ac types.

Make sure your flight is shown on the Halton Flying Programme.

Record fuel (and oil) added after each flight in your Plogbook booking-in data.

New flying rates effective from 1 May

GA FLIGHT DATA RECORDING (25 Apr 26)

GA’s HOBBS metre is suspect and cannot be relied on to provide accurate data.

Until it is fixed, flight costs will be calculated by Plogbook in the same way as RY – ie TACHO time plus 0.2.  Please continue to record HOBBS time on the Flight Payment sheet so we can monitor GA’s HOBBS metre performance, but do not enter  the HOBBS reading into Logbook;  instead add the TACHO elapsed time plus 0.2 to the HOBBS start reading for your flight – just as you do now for RY.

CO Monitors in C152s

Please make sure that the CO monitors in the C152s are switched off after flight so as not to run batteries down.

Gliding Club FOB

The Gliding Club (now called RAF Halton Gliding Club rather than Chiterns GC) has published a new FOB.  A copy is in the Ops Room and on the website (here).

Weight & Balance Data

Due to a discrepancy between the online and printed versions of our W&B charts, we have removed the online versions pro tem.

Flying Rates

You will be aware that the cost of all fuel including AVGAS has rocketed recently.  HAC are now paying nearly 30% more per litre in April than in March!  We have concluded that we can maintain the previously published hourly rates for the PA28 wef 1 May 26, but must raise the rates for the C152s by £5/hour.  The rates that will apply wef 1 May are below.  We will keep the price of fuel under review and adjust flying rates (up or down) as necessary to keep HAC solvent.

PA28     Solo £190     Dual   £235
C152     Solo £175     Dual   £220

Helo Operations at Halton

RAF Halton will be facilitating aerodrome access for Helicopter Services Ltd (HSL) aircraft for landaway training. The activity constitutes a change in normal airfield outputs, and the detail (here) must be read and understood by all pilots operating at Halton ahead of their next flight.

Red Buggy

The red buggy is u/s (no drive!). Adam Norton is not available to fix at moment so is there any member who has experience of golf buggy mechanics?
