Dear Member,

A quick reminder of the April Tuesday Social:

TUE 14 APR – MATT DEARDEN – FLYING FROM SHANGRI-LA
We are very lucky to have extreme bush pilot, Matt Dearden, coming to the HAC next week. Some of his landing videos will have you falling off of your seats! Let’s ensure we have a full house for this talented external speaker. Cash Bar and Food available. See you at 1900 for a 1930 start.

Other Stuff:

FLEET UPDATE – RY has now returned from engineering and will remain with us until the end of the season. We therefore have a full fleet of 4 aircraft ready for your regain of currency and continued lessons – get booking.

SPRING CLEAN – Thanks to the 40 hard-working members who attended the Spring Clean a few weeks ago, we are now in excellent shape for the coming season. My sincere thanks goes to all those who attended, it is appreciated!

INITIAL FLYING SCHOLARSHIP (IFS) DAY – MON 18 MAY – Around 30 IFSs have been awarded to RAF junior personnel. We will be sending 3 aircraft and selected pilots to conduct the flying at RAF Benson which is funded by the RAF Charitable Trust. This funding comes from RIAT – please respond ASAP to Deacon’s email looking for volunteers to represent us at RIAT this year.

Managing Partial Power Loss

Following Alex Trevett’s excellent presentation on Managing Partial Power Loss on Tue 3 March, the link below is to the Australian Transport Safety Board report to which Alex referred.  Well worth a read, even if you attended the presentation.  I will print and place copy in Planning Room for reference.

Ops Mgr Appointment

As you may be aware I have decided that it is time for me to permanently vacate the Ops Mgr chair in favour of someone younger – ie not about to be 79!

I am delighted to announce that  Samantha Davis has volunteered to replace me and has been accepted to take over at the end of Sep following a gentle handover through the summer.

Please be as kind and supportive of Sam as you have been of me!

Ops Mgr (for a little longer!)

SUN 22 MARCH (1000-1230hrs) – SPRING CLEAN
