Centenary Day

Message from Our Chairman

Dear Member,

Yesterday we celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the formation of the Halton Aero Club. During the day, we generated 30 sorties and had up to 3 Halton aircraft continually airborne from 0900-2000hrs. This was followed by a fantastic BBQ and social event.

I would like to say a huge thank-you to everyone that helped with the planning, set-up, running and tidy-up! In particular, Mike Russell, Buster & Lisa, Steve T, Dusty Miller, Rob Churchward, Dave Scott, Rachel W, Sam, Mark Devlin, Chris Williams, Dave Seath, everyone that flew or helped to clean/refuel aircraft, and of course, anyone that I have missed!

A lot of photos have been taken and will be placed on the Members’ Area of the website. Additionally, it was great to see Dollar and Nick Pin flying in from North Weald. Dollar has sent the following link to his photo drop-box which will be accessible for one month:

Finally, one of our Junior Rank & Officer Scholars solo’d today, congratulations to Josh Wrighton and a big thank-you to Deacon and Bob for getting him to solo standard! Just one more ab-initio Scholar to finish.

Happy 100th!

My thanks also to everyone who helped pull together an amazing day – our predecessors would have been very proud of the Club they formed a 100 years ago!

We flew 18 sorties in Club ac for a total of 22.8 hours and 10 private ac flown by Club members clocked up 10 sorties totalling 8.1 hours.  So 28 sorties for 30.9 hours.  Quite a day! If you didn’t get your log book stamped with the unique HAC Centenary Stamp, please drop into the office to do so.

As Mark said, I’ll collate all photos and video onto a page on the website in due course and Dilshan  is compiling a video from the material he collected on Saturday morning, so if you have any photos or video please send to me.

June Fly-In & Airshow Calendar

June Fly-In & Airshow Calendar

June Air Shows & Fly-Ins

Good morning all,

I’ve put together a list of events for June, which includes a mix of fly-ins and a few drive-in options. The goal is to inspire us all to get flying—or at least give some purpose to those summer trips!

With the warmer weather now here, there’s something happening nearly every weekend, from local fly-ins to larger airshows. I’ll aim to share a new list each month throughout the summer so we can all make the most of the season.

For those longer-distance events, don’t forget about the new flight-sharing WhatsApp group—perfect for coordinating trips and splitting costs with fellow members.

If you know of any events I’ve missed or have suggestions for future months, feel free to drop me an email.

Happy flying,

Elliot Emery, HAC Social Secretary
