Ops Mgr Update 18 Feb 26

IER Duties

With effect from 1 Apr 26 Chiltern Gliding Club will assume ALL IER 2 duties and there will no longer be a requirement for HAC to provide IER2 manning.

On the (rare) occasions when CGC cannot fill the duty, the AFM will contact the Ops Mgr or HMC to provide an ad hoc volunteer.

The new system will be trialled for 3 months

Stn Cdr’s Inspection 18 Feb 26

The Club spaces and Hangar 3 passed the Stn Cdr’s Inspection on Wed 18 Feb with flying colours.

Thank you Dave, Arthur, Ivor, Brian, Beverly and Louis for preparing the Club so well.

Security Passes

Members are reminded that their Station Security Pass is to be worn and visible at all times when on the airfield.  For flight safety reasons, when on the flight line it may be secured in a pocket etc but must still be carried.

Halton Cross Section

The information in the Ops Mgr’s Update of 17 Jan 26 was incorrect!  The cross section for Halton will not be produced at all after Sun 25th Jan 26.   Instead pilots are to refer to the Benson Cross Section which can be found under the “Station Products” tab on MOMIDS and searching for Benson Cross Section.

The FOB will be updated accordingly at the Jul 26 review.

Fleet Update & RY Return

KI remains u/s with a flap issue.  We await a weather/airfield window to get to Turweston for Vision to fix.

GA and TM are serviceable.

We  have delayed planned date for return of RY to HAC until w/b 16 March (ie to arrive in time for Spring Clean on 22 March).

Airfield

The airfield remains waterlogged and will need a sustained period of dry weather to return it to a useable state.

Plogbook

There have been a number of updates to Plogbook the details of which will be highlighted when you next log on.  Due to the lack of flying I have not been able to fully test the outputs to allow me to drop the use of manual Flight Data Sheets just yet, so please continue to complete them – when we resume flying!

Membership Renewal

The 2026 Membership renewal round has started.  If you didn’t receive (or read!) the all points e mail at the beginning of the month, details can be found on the new membership page (here).

PLOGBOOK Update 22 Oct 25

Most of the changes Plogbook that we have requested have now been made and i have created the final Step-By-Step Guide on using Plogbook to book ac out and in and record flight data, defects etc.  This guide can be found on the Plogbook Tutorial web page (here).

I am also planning  2 online live Demonstrations/Teach-Ins using Teams; the first will be on Fri 31 Oct at 1400 and the second on Sunday 2 Nov at 1100.  Please e mail me if you would like to attend either (or both!) and I will send you Teams invitations.

We will switch from EBS to Plogbook Scheduler’s on 3rd Nov 25.  The EBS will be switched off at this point so the only way to see and/or make bookings will be on Plogbook. SO APPLY FOR A PLOGBOOK ACCOUNT NOW if you haven’t already got one!  (Top Tip:  when you apply for an account, don’t forget to scroll down and add your ac types)

We will start managing flights on Plogbook from 14 Nov 25 but you will be required to continue completing the paper Flight Data Sheets in parallel for a short period whilst we gain confidence in the system.  It is extra work for pilots but is necessary to ensure we get accurate and complete data.

Membership Renewal 2026

Membership & IER

Membership & IER

Membership

My thanks to all who have applied to renew their HAC membership.  I am pleased to tell you that your application has been accepted and I invite you to pay the appropriate fee at your earliest convenience – if you have not already done so.  Once payment has been received, the Passes Team will send  you the paperwork to renew your Station Pass.  We will not be issuing membership cards this year, but your EBS & website members area access will continue and your e mail address will remain on the Club distribution list.

If you have not yet applied to renew your membership, please do so as soon as you can or let me know that you do not intend to rejoin – so I can take your name of the e mail list and stop pestering you.

If you are one of the few who have extended membership –  ie. former JOJRPSS students & RAF “Moved Away” – please disregard the above, your renewal is automatic and you will continue to have access to the EBS and website.

I have still to receive renewal forms from some Committee, Instructors and Enablers – there are a few outstanding!

IER

You will have seen the Chairman’s remarks on IER in his recent e mail.  The following is from Simon Greaves who has the unenviable task of coordinating our IER rota..

The 2025/2026 IER2 duty rota is now available (attached & on the IER webpage) with the first cover day the 12th of April. As per the chairman’s email of the 28th of Feb, volunteering for a duty day is a non-negotiable requirement and a condition of membership. As noted, you will be given the opportunity to choose a date – where this is not received, a date will be allocated to you. Only those who are full time employees or instructors at the club are exempt from this duty.  Full details of the duty are set out on the IER webpage.

Please email simon.greaves@haltonaeroclub.co.uk to volunteer for a date by the 21st of March. If you have not done so, you will then be allocated a date, and it will become your responsibility to attend, or to rearrange cover. This change has become necessary, as over the last two seasons nearly half the membership have not volunteered for a single duty, unfairly placing the burden on those remaining, many of whom do more than one duty.

I have also uploaded to dropbox a copy, which I have set to read only, that would allow members to see the latest version – link below. I will update the document as dates get allocated – this should reduce duplication in volunteers proposing the same dates.

I look forward to receiving your volunteer dates.

Winter Work Programme

Thank you to those who attended the Declutter Day last Sunday.  The excellent turn out meant we got everything done in <3 hours.  I am continuing to sort through the ancient paperwork to ensure we dispose of everything safely!

As our Chairman mentioned in his latest message, we have nominated 2 days for sprucing up the clubhouse paintwork;  9th March will be a preparation day and 16th March will be the painting day.  Nigel Marshall & Arthur Gill are coordinating the work so volunteers are requested to e mail Nigel (slowflyer123@aol.com).  There will be some disruption around the Clubhouse, but we expect to be able to continue to operate throughout.

Jon Lee is standing by to fit blinds in the crew room when the redecoration is complete and Graham Bartlett is looking at new lights for the crew room  and elsewhere in the Clubhouse to brighten things up.

Membership 2025/26

The new membership web page has been published today (https://haltonaeroclub.co.uk/membership/).  Same procedure as last year (AND SAME FEES!!).  Get those applications in.

Station Commander’s Inspection – 19 Feb 25

If you are willing and able to help me give the Clubhouse a spruce up (hoovering, dusting and the like) on Monday 17th Feb, Please meet me at the Club at 1000.

Currency/Licence Checking & T Cards

Samantha Davis & Rachel Willson have taken on the task of checking your licences and currency.  Every month they will post a list of people who have a FCL, FRTOL, Medical or Certificate of Experience that has expired or will do so in the next 30 days – ACCORDING TO OUR RECORDS. If you have renewed the licence or our data is wrong, please enter the correct date on the list and we will amend our records and stop bothering you. You will also get an e mail alerting you to the relevant expiry (ies).  In addition we will post a list of members whose  30, 42 or 60 day currency has expired at the date of the check.  If you are on either list  your T Card will be turned to RED; you may only turn it back to GREEN when you have resolved the “issue”.  Your T Card will also be turned to RED if there is a new order or publication that you need to read and sign for;  these documents will be flagged up on the Hot Poop Board; again turn your T Card to GREEN when you have read and signed as having done so on your Signature Sheet.
