New Paperwork Guide: how to complete

New Paperwork Guide: how to complete

(Message from Carl Finch).

All,

Please read this email carefully. Yes, it is long, but if you want a pass issued to you without delay, it is in your best interest to read.

Attached are guides to filling out the required paperwork along with the new forms (both in PDF/Word format) to gain access to RAF Halton.  You are to fill in and complete these forms and guidance has been given below. These are new forms, so ensure you use these. They will be uploaded to the website in due course.

Failure to follow these instructions will result in your application not being forwarded to the pass office for issue and will cause a delay in getting your pass issued.

Furthermore, I deploy to Cyprus on the 24th March and I will not have the time to go back and forward asking members to correct forms and attach files when the guidance below is simple.

Easy one first.

All holders of an in-date MOD F90 (ID Card) or other approved RAF Halton Station ID Card, is not required to complete any of the Station Pass paperwork.

FOR ALL NEW MEMBERS TO HAC OR MEMBERS THAT HAVE FAILED TO PICK UP THEIR PASS FROM THE PASS OFFICE.

Once you have paid your membership money, the next steps are required to be issued a Social Pass by RAF Halton.

1. Complete the HAC BPSS using the HAC guide to help you.

a. PART 4, Para 2 – The documents you state here must be included in the email to me. Docs recommended to use are:

i. Driving Licence
ii. Passport
iii. Utility Bill

2. Complete the HAC Social & Vehicle Pass Application using the HAC guide to help you.

a. YOU DO NOT NEED TO FILL IN VEHICLE DETAILS TO PARK IN THE CAR PARK.  IT IS ONLY REQUIRED BY THOSE THAT NEED TO GO BEYOND THE AIRFEILD BARRIER.

3. Complete the MOD Form 134 – Official Secret Act. Again use the guide if needed.

4. Once all forms are complete these are to be emailed to me – carl.finch@haltonaeroclub.co.uk.

a. Attached to that email needs to be 5 attachments. (Do not send all documents in one doc/pdf – It will be deleted. Do not send directly to the pass office. Dionne has been instructed to delete it.)

i. Completed BPSS
ii. Completed Social & Vehicle Pass Application Form
iii. Completed MOD Form 134
iv. Driving Licence or Passport or Utility Bill
v.  Driving Licence or Passport or Utility Bill

5. Once checked your email will be send on to the Pass Office and I will copy you in that email, so that you know it has been sent.  Dionne will action. Can take a couple of days, can be longer during the renewal period, so having your documents correct for a swift process for all involved.

MEMBERS RENEWING THEIR PASS 22/23 – ONLY those successful applicants

when notified by the Membership Sec, you are required to send, only the completed Social & Vehicle Pass Application Form. Any member that are sending applications now and have not been advised will have their email deleted.

Copied from the membership page of the HAC Website – https://haltonaeroclub.co.uk/membership/

On 14th Feb 2022 all existing qualifying and non-qualifying members (including reciprocal, temporary and social) and those on the waiting list can apply for membership for 2022-23.   Those wishing to join for the new Club year should complete and submit to the Membership Sec a membership application form no later than 1st March to be considered for membership.  Qualifying members must also apply at this point so that the Membership Secretary has the best visibility of the number of non-qualifying places he will be able to offer.  No monies are to be sent at this time.

On 1st March 2022 the Membership Sec will compile a list of applications received* for Chairman’s consideration showing:

  1.  All those who qualify for Full Membership.
  2.  All those applying Veteran (F9) membership.
  3. All those applying for A1, A2 and A3 membership.
  4. All those A1, A2 and A3 applicants undertaking or planning to take a LAPL/PPL course
  5. The number of Associate Membership places available within the RAFSA rules.

By 14th March 2022 the Chairman will decide which non-qualifying applications are to be accepted.

By 21st March 2022 the Membership Sec will notify those successful applicants (both Full and Associate) requesting payment of membership fee (by BACS) no later than 31st March . If payment is not received by 15th April, the membership offer will lapse and offered to the next eligible applicant on the waiting list.

By 1st April the Membership Sec will notify all unsuccessful applicants and place them on the waiting list.

*Applications received after 1st March will be dealt with in order of receipt, but the same criteria will be applied.

Chairman’s Message 27-02-22

Chairman’s Message 27-02-22

Dear Member,
Please take time to read the following important information:

G-BNKI

KI’s engine has been sent to Norvic for inspection and the news is not good. In short, this half-life engine requires a full rebuild. This is a financial blow that we could do without – we are currently exploring options for completion of the work.

Spring Clean (was Sun 27th Mar 22)

With just 3 of the 5 HAC aircraft likely to be at Halton on the original date, we will postpone this important event to Sun 8th May (1000-1230hrs) – this will be a ‘no-fly’ day. Please put this important date into your now.

HAC Social Events

After many years of service as the Social Sec, Nicola Parkes has decided not to renew her membership – on behalf of HAC Members past and present, I would like to express my thanks for her work. We therefore require a new Social Sec to complete this important role that gives the HAC its family atmosphere. Please reply to this email for details of this exciting role.

Sky Echo Presentation

We are talking to Mike Tetlow to arrange the first of the 2022 Social Events and hope to run it over the next month. The date will be published soon.

Sky Echo Tablets

Use of ADSB-based Electronic Conspicuity will be mandated at Halton Airfield on 1st Apr 22. In preparation for this, we have purchased 3 x Lenovo Tab3 7″ tablets which will be used with Sky Demon and Sky Echo 2. We are awaiting delivery of the mounting brackets – please ask a staff member for a brief of their use before 1st April.

IER Training Day

My thanks to Mark Devlin for organising the IER Training that took place yesterday. Adi will coordinate the duty roster – completing IER duties is essential for flying at RAF Halton and a term of membership.

HAC Kitchen

Those who use the kitchen are to leave it clean with all mugs and plates washed, dried and cleared away.
The Airfield is currently in good condition, so make the most of the good weather.

Regards,

Mark

Chairman’s Message 27-11-21

Dear Member,

I hope this note finds you well and sheltering from Storm Arwen. Quite a lot to get through, but please take time read the following important info:

Buy-Forward

My thanks goes to the 9 members that have bought-forward flying hours. A reminder to all members that aircraft rental rates will increase on 1 Dec 21 in accordance with the previous HAC Update.

Winter Groundschool

Don’t let the winter slow your progress to PPL – now is the time to get the theory squared away! Deacon is available for 1-2-1 sessions, Exams and Flight Simulator sessions – contact him through deaconpilottraining@gmail.com to book.  We will also be running weekend Groundschool in the New Year – details to follow.

Aircraft Cleaning

We pride ourselves on the high standards of our aircraft – this includes the internal and external cleanliness of the airframe. TO BE CLEAR – ALL members are to clean the aircraft before it is handed over to the next pilot. Repeat offenders who believe it is someone else’s job will be asked to leave.

Big Thanks

My sincere thanks goes to Nigel and Chris Marshall who have completed a number of infrastructure jobs which follow a Defence Fire Audit of the HAC.

Winter Projects

To maintain our Clubhouse for professional pre-flight standards and one to be proud of, there will be a number of projects completed this winter (Jan-Mar 22). Any level of DIY skill is acceptable!  We will be trawling for volunteers soon.

Self-Authorisation

Self-Auth has been restored to owners/pilots of private aircraft (subject to signing of Letter of Authority). We will shortly review all previous Club Aircraft self-auth pilots. Those deemed suitable to continue with this privilege will be contacted and issued a Letter of Authority which sets-out the associated responsibilities.

Terms of Reference (ToR)

The rewrite of the ToR for all Committee, Staff, Instructors and some Club Members (with formal duties) is nearly complete. These will be issued for signature over the next few weeks.

Occupation – Retired, now 75 years old, (former Sales Engineer)

Licence/Ratings – LAPL, NPPL, NPPL(M)

Hours To Date – 550

Favourite Aircraft Flown – Dart Kitten

Dream Aircraft To Fly – Chilton DW1 or DH 98 Mosquito

Favourite Flight – Halton to Old Warden in the “Biggles Biplane” (Tiger Moth modified to resemble BE2)

Dream Destination – Old Warden

Fun Fact – I love old aeroplanes, especially those made from wood and fabric. I am a lifelong aeroplane enthusiast and grew up as a spotter, starting at White Waltham in 1955, when the RAF still operated Mosquitos and Balliols there. I volunteer at the Museum of Berkshire Aviation and belong to Joystick Club (White Waltham), their aim is to encourage youngsters into aviation.

Flying Aspirations – To keep flying for as many years as I am able.

Top Tip – Learn something new from every flight. I have always thought that the day I do the perfect flight I should finish my flying days

Dave has co-authored two books about the local aircraft industry which are available at the HAC club

High Wycombe`s Contribution to Aviation

by Dave Scott and Ian Simmons

Aviation in and around High Wycombe, including manufacture of aeroplane parts in the furniture factories in both World Wars (more parts of the wooden airframe for the DH98 Mosquito were made here than anywhere else). His airline “Aircraft Transport & Travel” (AT&T) operated, in 1919, the world`s first international scheduled regular daily passenger air service. Alan Cobham and Neville Shute both worked for AIRCO. He founded IATA and was instrumental in the formation of the SBAC. He lived at North Dean, Hughenden, Nr. High Wycombe.

Josh Flood goes Solo

Josh Flood goes Solo

(from Instagram)

Congratulations to SAC Josh Flood, who this week completed his first solo, after only 12 hours of instruction. An excellent achievement! Josh is the latest addition to an elite group who have “exercise 14” appended to their log books!

Josh is the 3rd student pilot this year to complete his first solo as a result of the RAF Charitable Trust Junior Rank and Junior Officer Pilot Scholarship Schemes, which HAC is proud to support, and has done so for many years.

All the best for the rest of your training Josh!

Fuel Drain Checks

Fuel Drain Checks

From: Mark Manwaring

This photo was taken during the Check A on G-EDGA and shows roughly 50% of the vessel containing water.  AVGAS is dyed blue for this reason.  What might have been more difficult to notice was the 2 whole vessels (not photographed) full of water that preceded this – would you have noticed a complete lack of colour?  Without doubt, if this had not been properly strained pre-flight, it would have resulted in an engine failure, probably just after after take-off.

Whilst this happened after being parked outside at our engineering base at Denham, this could occur at any time.  The message is clear – be meticulous during all pre-flight, flight and post-flight checks – it might save your life!
