On 15th March we reached our quotas for Veteran (F9) and Civilian (A1 to A3) members as decreed by RAFSA and there are no further vacancies in these 2 categories. There are, of course, vacancies for F1 to F8 and F10 to F13 sub categories.

If you have NOT already applied but want to be added to the waiting list

Please do still send in your renewal application BUT DO NOT SEND CHEQUE OR TRANSFER THE MEMBERSHIP FEE BY BACS. Your name will go on the waiting list pending further “Full” members joining and opening up more Associate Veteran and Associate Civilian vacancies.

E mail your application form to the Membership Secretary (mike.russell@haltonaeroclub.co.uk) and you will be put on the waiting list.  Selection from the waiting list when vacancies do become available will be made based on hours flown in 2019 and the Chairman’s assessment of your actual or potential contribution to HAC.

Chairman’s Message

Chairman’s Message

Dear Member,

After a 4-month operational deployment to the Middle East, I have returned to find that my fear of missing out of flying over the winter months was unfounded!  Despite the continued storms and standing water, we have a fantastic flying year ahead of us and need to prepare for it now.  All members were sent a copy of the 2020 HAC Calendar – I would like to draw your attention to its next 2 events:

SAT 21st MAR – 1000hrs – INAUGURAL EXPED MEETING

In the HAC Crewroom and should only last around 90 minutes.  The 2020 Exped is planning to visit Poland and run between Sun 28 Jun-Sat 4 Jul.  This first meeting is designed to inform all interested members of the:

  • Aim of the Exped
  • Duties ahead of the event
  • Daily routine whilst down-route
  •  Anticipated flying, accommodation and other costs

If you are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to be considered for the event, email the Chairman at mark.manwaring2@ntlworld.com

SUN 29th MAR – 1000 – 1230hrs – SPRING CLEAN

This is a critical part of our pre-season preparation where all members of the Club are required to blitz the infrastructure and ensure that the Club aircraft are cleaned and protected ready for the flying season.  I cannot stress how important this 2 ½ hr commitment is – without this, we would be forced to have the aircraft professionally cleaned, adding cost and down-time.  The event will conclude with a lunch made to a 1940s RAF Night Flying Supper recipe.  Friends and family all welcome!  I will email again next week with a list of specialist equipment that might be useful on the day – meantime, please ring-fence these couple of hours to ensure your contribution to keeping the Club and its assets in top condition.

CORONAVIRUS

Please ensure that you are familiar with current UK Government advice and recognised symptoms.

Best Wishes,

IMPORTANT NEWS ON STATION PASSES

UPDATE 7 FEB 2020

What is Changing?

RAF Halton is tightening its policies on Station Passes.  Remember it YOUR responsibility as a member of HAC to keep all necessary Station Passes up to date.  Failure to do so could see your pass privileges withdrawn precluding you from accessing the airfield and therefore from flying.  The new policies are explained below.

What Passes do I need? – Update

HAC members require either an MOD90 ID card or a RAF Halton Social Pass PLUS an RAF Halton Vehicle Pass if you wish to bring your vehicle onto any part of the Station, including the external car park at the Airfield.  Your ID Card or Social Pass must be displayed on your person at all times within the Station boundaries except on the flight line when it may be removed and secured about your person.  Vehicle Passes must be clearly displayed at all times when on RAF Halton sites.

IF YOU NEED TO VISIT MORE THAN ONE LOCATION ON THE STATION (EG THE MUSEUM AS WELL AS THE AIRFIELD) YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT A SEPARATE SOCIAL PASS APPLICATION TO EACH LOCATION FOR SPONSORSHIP.  IT IS UNCLEAR IF MULTIPLE SOCIAL PASSES WILL BE ISSUED OR MULTIPLE LOCATIONS LISTED ON A SINGLE SOCIAL PASS.  CONTROL OF ENTRY ORDER NO 3 IS AWAITED BY OPSMAN FOR MORE DETAIL.  THIS POLICY IS IN FORCE NOW! A SINGLE VEHICLE PASS WILL BE VALID FOR ALL LOCATIONS.

Pass Validity Duration – NOW 6 MONTHS

Previously Station Passes have been valid for 12 months.  This is changing and all passes will be valid FOR 6 MONTHS ONLY.

Pass Renewal

Application to renew existing passes will only be accepted by the Pass Office up to the expiry date.  After that date a new Pass Application will be required.  This is the same form for Vehicle Passes, but is the much longer Initial Application for a Social Pass which also requires you to provide referees and produce your driving licence and Passport.

The Pass Office will not send out reminders or relevant renewal forms.  Nor will HAC. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO KEEP YOUR PASSES CURRENT.

Application forms can be downloaded from the Membership Page.

Remember that HAC SOCIAL PASS applications need to be sponsored (ie signed) by OpsMan who will need to check that your membership is current.  So,  renew membership first, get your forms filled in and to Opsman and allow time for processing both by HAC and the Pass Office.  (NB:  Membership renewal will be open from 1st March 2020. Watch for the new membership page for details.)
