In December we re-instated regular checks on members’ licence, medical and, rating expiry dates as well as their 42 day currency status. Whilst responsibility for being in all respects legal and current to fly lies with the pilot and the flight authoriser, HAC has long had an RAF-style T card system in place to assist members in discharging those responsibilities. A record of all members’ licence, medical and SEP expiry dates is maintained by the Ops Office and is checked at least monthly to update the T Card board and remind members of any upcoming expiries both by posting a list on the noticeboard alongside the T Card rack and by individual e mails. If the cause of your red T card is removed (eg, you fly to regain currency or renew your SEP or medical etc) and you have updated the relevant expiry information by amending your individual Flying Order Book Signature Sheet, annotated the posted Expiring List or by e mailing the Ops Mgr, you can and should turn your T Card back to green. As the checking system has not been used regularly for some time, it may take us a couple of iterations to get our records fully up to date so your cooperation and understanding will be appreciated as we correct errors over the next few months. It is our aim to have the system fully up to date and reliable by the start of the new flying season in April – if not before. If for any reason you do not have a Signature Sheet and/or a T card, please contact the Ops Mgr.
The Station has published the Snow & Ice Plan (SIP) for this winter which can be read in full in the Ops Room. HAC pilots are note Para 12 c which states:
Bulk Fuel Installation (BFI). To mitigate salt contaminating the aircraft and vehicle crossing point by the BFI, personnel requiring access to the Airfield Tower and the sewage works are to conduct a FOD check to remove excess grit from tyres. Aircraft captains are requested to shut down before this crossing point and manually walk the aircraft to the BFI to prevent grit being scattered across the apron by propeller wash.
